It's been said that if builders increased using US-made materials by just 5% it would create 220,000 domestic jobs. This would only raise the price of the home by 1-2%. Some US building materials are actually cheaper and most are of high quality. For example, US nails, though $5 more per box, seem to jam the nail gun less often.
